I’ll say again: Yemenis are not starving; they are being starved. Yemen’s humanitarian catastrophe can only be understood as linked to the ways in which the warring parties have carried out attacks in the absence of accountability.

Six years into the Saudi-led coalition’s war against the Houthi rebels in Yemen, Mwatana, the organization that Radhya co-founded, has documented hundreds of abuses by all sides.

To end the cycles of violence in Yemen, the warring parties must know they will be held accountable for violations.

Mwatana for Human Rights participates in the events of the 42nd session of Human Rights Council during September 2019 held in Geneva, and discusses the importance of strengthening the mandate of GEE.

America pledged millions in humanitarian aid for Yemen. But if U.S. arms sales to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates continue, American bombs may reach Yemeni civilians before American aid will. Peace in Yemen is possible. But to achieve it, Congress must act.

Almutawakel: The warring parties continue their violations depending on the absence of accountability and protection of their allies, the European states should stop arms sales to Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
